Social Networks & Relationships
Lately, on Twitter and Facebook I've been reading a lot of tweets and status updates about ruined relationships. These people claim that Twitter and Facebook are one of the reasons they are no longer with their significant other. How many of us believe that social networks ruin relationships? I believe that social networks introduce us to new people, people that we wouldn't normally talk to in person. I also believe that social networks introduce us to new temptations; we are going to meet people that we might be attracted to and read things that we wouldn't normally hear about, but I do not believe that social networks ruin relationships. A lot of people get on social networks and forget about the respect that they should have for themselves and their significant other. I frown upon people that know their in a relationship but get on social networks, especially Twitter, sharing thoughts that shouldn't be shared to the whole world; no one needs to know that you're horny, or the things you like or want to do in your bedroom (keep that to yourself). If you have respect for your significant other, a social network should not be the reason your relationship is falling apart. How hard is it to meet new people and be able to keep your conversations appropriate? How hard is it for people to join a social network and behave as if their in a relationship? To the people that blame social networks for their relationship problems, It's not social networks that are ruining your relationship, it's your significant other; he/she obviously has no respect for you or your relationship.
